Here’s a Tech Tip that the shop owners should really like! A question painters always ask is, "How much paint should I mix to do this job?" The answer to this question is found by using the 4-6-8 method. Just what is the 4-6-8 method you ask? It is the following:

(4) Ounces Ready-To-Spray Sealer

(6) Ounces Un-Reduced Basecoat

(8) Ounces Ready-To-Spray Clear

The amounts shown above are estimated "per panel" for an average sized vehicle. Remember to adjust your quantities up, or down based on the size of the panel and mix accordingly. This method has proven to be very accurate, helping to keep over mixing at a minimum, thus cutting down on costly waste.
